My name is Hiren, I am the owner and lead bookkeeper of Stilz Bookkeeping. I got into bookkeeping when I was struggling to find a good bookkeeper for my then fashion apparel business in the garment district in NYC. I was always short of cash and time and struggling to get a handle on the numbers of my business.

My search led me to hire many mediocre and outright incompetent bookkeepers. I never received a complete picture of my business's financial health. I approached tax time in sheer terror. Looking at the results or rather the non results I got, I realized this was not working out.

I decided to learn QuickBooks bookkeeping as a business owner. My accounting degree helped me shorten the learning curve. I eventually certified with Intuit and offered bookkeeping services as a side gig to friends and business associates. I moved full time into QuickBooks bookkeeping after the 2008 financial crisis when my fashion apparel business faded out. And in pursuing my goal of working from anywhere, we have been remote since 2014 well before anyone thought it was possible!

What I found was that a lot of small businesses don't have the skills or resources to get high quality bookkeeping without spending thousands of dollars hiring full time bookkeepers.

They were in a frustrating spot. They could not afford a full time bookkeeper and could not know who to trust to ensure their QuickBooks is neat, clean and accurate.

They did not have enough work for a full time bookkeeper. And hiring for part time they found were mainly mediocre bookkeepers who were not tech savvy and unwilling to see the business from the owner's perspective. Mainly glorified data entry operators. Those bookkeepers were bookkeepers alright but without the vision of a business owner. They had never been in a stressed situation where they had to scramble to fund payroll or put in personal funds to make vendor payments.

I realized that my method and system of working on the books using QuickBooks Online bringing a business owners perspective was a huge help for small business owners. This is when I began to offer high quality bookkeeping services using QuickBooks Online to clients.

Starting with just a couple of clients who trusted in me, we have grown to lots and lots of clients. Without diluting the personal touch I maintain with clients.
